1947
Crosley Super Deluxe Convertible. This fully restored,
extremely rare and outstandingly unique American made
car (manufactured in Cincinnati Ohio) was seen in the
1984 hit movie Porkeys 2: The Next Day.
The color of this special sedan is Butter Cup
Yellow With Rose Red interior and a Snow White roll
back top, highlighted with refinished oak ( Top of body
frame side rails). Fully deluxe inside and out. Optional
components include: Working original Crosley radio,
2 speed heater, dual sun visors, ash trays, outside
hood ornament, side body trim plus Crosley deluxe bumper
guards. The car features the rarest option: A 3-star
horn cap that covers most of the 3-spoke steering bars.
The inside is surprisingly roomy with ample space between
the clutch, brake and toad stool gas pedal for comfortable
operation (not like most other small cars). All rare
accessories such as outside fog lights (uninstalled),
a passing eye door mirror, inside oval day/night tinted
mirror, dash mount signal finder, Hull compass, etc.
Excellent detailed engine, which is in high gloss red
and black enamel. Original Crosley 4 cylinder overhead
valve 26.5 H.P. motor that delivers up to 50 M.P.G.
using regular pump gas. Crosley original 3-speed floor
shifter transmission. RESTORED OR NEW: polished brass

tune-up, complete safety check up and road test by certified
Crosley mechanic. New 155 R x 12 all weather radial
premium sport tires mounted on 2-tone red and white
4 lug Crosley lightweight original rims. Yes, this attractively
finished Crosley convertible is a very distinctive car
that puts a song in your heart and draws admiring glances
wherever it goes.
A
few more items that have randomly come to mind in no
particular order: the body, jams, sills, dash and engine
compartment have been all taken down to bare metal.
The doors and hood came off car as well (photos are
available). Painted with the best DuPont paint available,
then rubbed out by hand. (The fit and finish is second
to none). All around door sills and jams are detailed
to perfection also. Inside interior has been fully insulated,
doors shut solid and quietly. All window rubber is excellent.
Interior is NEW. Top is NEW. Chrome is very good all
over. Stainless has been polished. Engine is very clean.
Oil pan is detailed in red. Fan is rare --- hard to
find 4 blade model for much better cooling around town.
Stock 2-blade fan comes with car. Extra engine parts
included. Motor, trans, rear end are all very quiet
when driving/idling. Low mileage car to begin with (around
20K). No rust, Southern California car. Steering has
no play in steering box. Cable brakes, 8" drums,
which work well. Tires are new. Excellent original spare
tire as well as the original jack and lug wrench. Nice,
solid sounding car. No trunk lid, spare is under car.
Exhaust is quiet. Car resembles an old style Long Beach
Pike bumper car. There is lots of space inside for 4
adults, baggage and more!!! Outside rear view mirror
is passing eye mirror (to see if anyone is in the passing
lane with just one look into the two mirrors that face
each other). WOW! Very rare. This Crosley still has
its original "bulb" headlights with fluted
glass. This Crosley has the tall, thin Banana bumper
guards --- all 4 are nice condition! All glass is original
and good condition. Door glass slides in 3 different
directions for varied amounts of air venting. Also,
the car has front quarter panel vents. Deluxe Crosley
stock 6-gallon gas tank. Car handles good around town
--- NOT FOR FREEWAY USE!!!! All Crosley emblems with
glass jewels are excellent condition. All gauges are
in good working order and look nice. All lights work
well (tail light is glass). Original owners manual
and shop repair manuals included. Over all condition
and appearance is excellent. Car is 4' wide and 10-1/2'
long. Gets tons of looks! Under car is clean and dry.
1946-48 are the best looking years for the Crosley.....Convertibles
are very rare.
An
interesting note by a dealer ad: Again, extreme light
weight, and a finely balanced ratio between weight,
power, and size pay dividends in the new, fine Crosley!
This great car almost literally turns on a dime!
It is easy to handle beyond your fondest dreams! The
great 26.5 H.P. engine responds instantly to your slightest
wish; gives you pick-up that leaves heavier, less flexible
cars behind at the light! On curves, the new, fine Crosley
has a sure-footedness that you will love to experience.
Drive it yourself, and see the difference!
